What is the MRA?
The MRA is a rigorously developed tool used to annually collect, analyze, and report student, staff, and school-level outcomes related to the focus on improving leadership, culture, and academics.
It can be used to help a school identify its strengths and weaknesses, develop goal-centered improvement plans, and monitor progress toward school improvement.
When is the MRA taken?
To accurately measure progress since implementing the Leader in Me process, schools complete an assessment before the first day of training.
After this initial baseline assessment, schools retake the assessment during the last few months of the school year, every year.
Below are the recommended steps to prepare for a successful MRA
Plan Ahead:
- Choose a specific window of time to collect surveys, we recommend 2-3 weeks.
- Determine when and where each respondent group will have the opportunity to complete the MRA.
- Review the Best Practices section below and choose actions to follow for communications and participation.
Gather Information:
Before setting up your school's MRA your team will need to answer the following questions.
- MRA Name
- The recommended response here will include your school name and year. (e.g. FranklinCovey Demo School 2023 MRA)
- Which best describes your school?
- Here you will choose which level best represents your students.
- What dates do you want the MRA to open?
- Will they differ from respondent groups? (e.g. Will families get an extra week?
- Remember to make the survey window at least 2 weeks.
- How many staff work in your building? (Including teaching, non-teaching staff, and administrators)
- The recommended response minimum is 80% of the total staff.
- What would that make your target number of staff?
- How many eligible students (4th grade and above) attend your school?
- The recommended response minimum for students is 80%
- What number of students do you need to reach 80%?
- How many students (all grades) attend your school?
- The recommended response minimum for families is 20% of your total student population (e.g., if you have 500 students, the response minimum for families would be 100).
- What number of families do you need to reach 20%?
Once you have this information, you are ready to activate the MRA.
