Welcome to The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families Virtual Certification on Leader in Me Online! Schools can use this digital, self-paced program to equip up to six members of their school community to facilitate The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families Workshop.
This user guide includes information designed to assist School Staff Members and Parents with:
- Navigation. Learn how to access this user-favorite Leader in Me Membership Benefit as a staff member or parent.
- Becoming a Facilitator. From application to certification, we’ll take a closer look at the phases involved in becoming a facilitator.
- Leading Workshops. Certified facilitators won’t want to miss this section on downloading their official certificate and hosting The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families Workshops.
For Staff Members with Leader in Me Online Credentials
Accessing the Landing Page
Locate “My Learning” in the top navigation bar and select “Families Certification.”
For Parents
Accessing the Landing Page
Navigate to leaderinme.com and select “Parent Sign In” from the top-right corner.
Parent users will land on the Families Certification page after logging in.
Explore the Landing Page
Check out an overview of the certification process on the official virtual Families Certification landing page. Click the 'Download Application" button in the bottom blue section to download and submit an application to your designated Families Administrator.
Start the Certification Process
Once an application has been approved by the Families Administrator the 'Start Certification' button will appear on the Families Certification landing page.
The Families Administrator will then provide an agreement form that must be signed and submitted back to them. The Families Administrator will upload the signed agreement, thereby unlocking the 'Start Certification' button.
Becoming a Facilitator
We encourage schools to use the following process to engage prospective facilitators:
Application. Interested staff and family members can submit an application for review by School Administrators or a designated Families Administrator.
Selection. Families Administrators add selected facilitators and signed Facilitator Agreements to the School’s Facilitator Dashboard. Selected facilitators will receive emails from Leader in Me Online, prompting them to begin the certification process.
Certification. Selected facilitators click the blue “Start Certification” button to access the three-step Certification Process page.

BECOMING A FACILITATOR
Selected facilitators will have access to the Certification Process page featuring a progress tracker for monitoring personal efforts in completing the three steps required for certification:
Step 1: Learn the Content (4.5 hours)
Click the “Start” button to begin The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families On-Demand Workshop and discover how the framework can help solve problems that affect all families and communities.
Step 2: Learn to Facilitate (1.5 hours)
Click the “Start” button to begin the Facilitator Certification On-Demand Workshop and explore best practices and Families workshop materials.
Step 3: Practice Facilitating (1 hour)
Click the “Learn More” button for a more detailed look at scheduling and facilitating a Teach-Back Session as part of the final step in the certification process.
Facilitating Workshops
Completing the three-step process will prompt “Completed” tags and dates on the Certification Process page. Fully certified facilitators can take the following actions to keep the momentum going.
Download a Certificate. Click the “Download Certificate” button in the progress tracker to download a personalized PDF. The name on the certificate will appear as a user's first and last name from the Leader in Me Online platform.
Download a Certificate. The Download Certificate button, highlighted above, will allow you to download your certificate of completion.
Schedule and Promote a Workshop.
Certified facilitators can work with their school community to schedule workshops and invite parents and guardians to upcoming workshops.
Host a 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families Workshop.
Certified facilitators can use the Facilitator Kit to help families learn the Habits.
