How does Leader in Me Online use AI?
The Leader in Me Online uses AI to power the “Limi” AI feature.
Designed to address daily leadership challenges and more easily find applicable resources for staff and students. The Limi AI feature offers quick answers to learners' questions and content suggestions.
The Limi AI feature can be disabled for your entire organization. Please consult with a member of your Leader in Me team to disable it.
If the Limi AI feature is not enabled:
- Users in your organization will not have access to Limi.
- Your organization's data will not be processed to power this feature.

How Does It Work?
Who are FranklinCovey’s Large Language Model providers?
FranklinCovey does not have its own machine learning models. We partner with OpenAI and leverage their large language model (LLM) using the OpenAI Enterprise API to power the Limi AI feature.
OpenAI does not use our data to train models, and retains it only as necessary to provide the service under our enterprise terms. For more information, please visit: https://openai.com/enterprise-privacy/
How does the Limi AI feature work?
The Limi AI feature is a personalized virtual mentor powered by large language models. Using a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) framework, Limi searches FranklinCovey’s proprietary content library and uses relevant information to enhance and enrich its responses.
When a user interacts with the Limi AI feature, the following steps occur:
- Limi receives a prompt from the user (typed into chat or selected from a pre-configured prompt).
- The prompt is passed to OpenAI and checked against embeddings of the Leader in Me content library. OpenAI then generates a response.
- Embeddings are stored in Franklin Covey's Elastic Search environment and AWS RDS.
- Limi processes and refines the response formatting before displaying it to the user.
What Data Does It Use?
Children/Student data
The Limi AI feature is enabled for adults on our teacher/staff platform. Students do not have access to this feature, and no student data is being processed by AI.
Personalization Onboarding Survey Data
The Limi AI feature personalizes responses by referencing user-generated data gathered through an optional onboarding survey.
The survey may ask for high-level details such as:
- Role within your organization
- Grade Level you teach
Important notes:
- The onboarding survey is optional.
- The Limi AI feature may be used without completing the survey.
- Survey data is not used for automated decision-making.
Limi Session Data
For customer support, issue investigation, and future functionality that may allow users to access past chats, the Limi AI feature stores session details, including user-entered chat content.
At this time:
- Each session is treated independently.
- Context from previous sessions may be used to help provide better answers in a new session.
In the future, FranklinCovey may enhance the Limi AI feature to use context from past sessions to improve the relevance of responses.
Additional notes:
- Session data is not used for automated decision-making.
- We do not use your session data to make decisions about you based solely on automated processing. We do not use session data for profiling (as defined in GDPR).
- You may request deletion of your session data at any time by contacting us at support@leaderinme.com.
- Onboarding survey and session data can be deleted upon request.
Data Privacy and Security
Will third parties store my data?
No. Your data is not stored by OpenAI.
Will my data be used to train any models?
No. Your data is not used to train the large language models powering the FranklinCovey Limi AI feature.
FranklinCovey has contractual obligations in place with our AI subprocessor prohibiting the use of customer data to train underlying models.
How is my data kept separate from other customers?
Each customer account is separate within the Leader in Me Online production environment. Data from different customers is not mixed or processed together during AI processing.
This ensures that your data is not exposed to other FranklinCovey customers.
We retain your data for as long as your Leader in Me Online account remains active, or until the organization that contracted with FranklinCovey ends its agreement for the service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting support@leaderinme.com.

Is the FranklinCovey Limi AI feature GDPR compliant?
The FranklinCovey Limi AI feature is compliant with GDPR principles and is globally available (English is fully supported and other languages will be supported in the future).
Organizations should evaluate activation of the feature in alignment with their own data privacy policies and standards.

Is the FranklinCovey Limi AI feature available in all countries?
The FranklinCovey Limi AI feature is available only in countries where OpenAI services are supported.
Because Limi is built on OpenAI technology, access is restricted to countries included on OpenAI’s supported countries list. Please review this list before enabling the Limi AI feature for international users.
