Lost Connections, Browser or Device Issues, and Closed Exams
In most cases, the student can reopen the exam and continue where they left off once they're back online. If they can't get back in or their attempt appears stuck:
Open Progress and Evaluation for the exam.
In the student's row, click the three-dot Actions menu and select Extend Time if they lost testing time. If they need a new start window, reopen the assessment instead (see "When a Student or Class Needs to Leave the Room").
When a Student or Class Needs to Leave the Room
If a student steps away mid-exam—or the whole class needs to pause—you can reopen the assessment for one student or the entire class when they're ready to resume.
For one student, open the Actions menu in their row. For the whole class, click Reopen Assessment at the top of the Assessment panel.
Confirm the prompt. Reopening gives students a new start window and doesn't interrupt students who are already testing.
Fire Drills and Other Building-Wide Interruptions
Treat a fire drill like any other paused exam. Students' progress is saved, and once you're back in the room, you can reopen the assessment for the whole class or extend time for everyone currently testing.
